The wealth of details included show clearly that the Dutch capital offers great fun for all types of visitor during your river cruises in Europe. In the article – which can be read by following the link at the bottom of the article – writer Rodney Bolt explains that one of the greatest experiences to enjoy in the city is a walk along the network of canals.
While Bolt suggests that a walk along the grand canals of the canal belt (the Herengracht, Kiezersgracht and Prinsengracht) is an absolute must, walking alongside some of the smaller waterways is particularly pleasant – especially during night time where they are illuminated by a string of lanterns.
With such high praise for the canals, it should come as little surprise that Bolt also suggests that a canal trip is something that shouldn’t be passed up. Most offer a hop-on-hop-off service, but can also be caught from the many jetties in front of the Central Station.
The guide also offers details on a host of festivals, events and upcoming events at museums and cultural venues, as well as general points of interest. One of the latter he mentions is the Artis Zoo, with the oldest public zoo in continental Europe recently benefitting from a modern makeover. While each corner of the zoo is spectacular in its own right, Bolt says that the areas he finds the most alluring are the aquarium and butterfly pavilion.
