The survey from Post Office Travel Money looked at the most affordable cultural experiences across many European destinations on river cruise holidays. While London came out as the most expensive for theatre tickets and other such cultural experiences, cities including Budapest, Prague and other such popular river cruise destinations illustrated great value for money.
“World-class cultural attractions”
While Warsaw came out on top as offering the best value for money on such cultural experiences as museums and the ballet in the Post Office Travel Money report, Budapest and Prague were not far behind. While prices for such cultural experiences in Budapest have risen ever so slightly, the 27 per cent improvement in sterling’s value against the Hungarian forint means that visitors to the Hungarian capital get more for their money and are able to experience even more during the course of their trip.
While the best river cruise companies offering all-inclusive Danube river cruises cover most expenses throughout the duration of your trip, should you wish to visit an extra museum or gallery in your free time it is reassuring that Budapest is among the best value cities in the whole of Europe for cultural experiences.
Of the survey’s findings, Andrew Brown of Post Office Travel Money said, “We based our report on the idea that people would want to visit galleries and museums every day on a short break and spend evenings at music-based events. What we found was that while every city surveyed boasts world-class cultural attractions, prices vary dramatically.”
The findings suggest that it is worth bearing in mind which cities you are visiting on European river cruises and planning accordingly as to which cultural attractions you will visit, from museums and the opera to ballet.
