Cruise industry continues to boom

While sea cruises have experienced a great boom, the release of new itineraries of river cruise holidays from the UK, such as those from Emerald Waterways, have seen the industry as a whole receive a significant boost as this type of holiday gains in popularity.

“The cruise industry is truly global”

This increased popularity is evident worldwide, with the CLIA president stating in this article, “The cruise industry is truly global, bringing together a diverse mix of international passengers and crew to experience exciting itineraries, multiple destinations, and exceptional holiday vacation value on every continent.”

The research was commissioned by CLIA from Business Research and Economic Advisers and the report stands as the first of its kind to look into the worldwide economic impact of the cruise industry. Its findings are more than positive and found that European markets were among the most buoyant.

Chairman of CLIA Europe, Pierfrancesco Vago, said of the findings “The figures published today show that nearly 45 per cent of the industry’s 2013 global output was generated in Europe” and “with more Europeans choosing to cruise, more tourists cruising in European waters and more cruise ships being built in European ship yards, the weight of our industry in Europe can only continue to increase in years to come.”

With Emerald Waterways being a registered member of CLIA UK and Ireland Cruise Lines, it is no wonder that their European river cruise 2015 itineraries are being booked up far in advance, further proving the increasing popularity of the industry.
