Emerald Waterways wins award from Cruise Critic

Launching only in April this year, the award is a huge achievement and saw Emerald Waterways beat a number of competing cruise lines from the UK and USA for the title. The Emerald Star and Emerald Sky ‘Star-Ships’ were chosen for the award by an international team of editors from Cruise Critic, with the accolade confirming the excellence that Emerald Waterways strives to deliver.

Glen Moroney, founder and managing director of the Scenic Group, the parent company for Emerald Waterways said, “We’re very proud and pleased that our never-ending efforts to raise the standards on European river ships has been recognized by Cruise Critic as they share a similar benchmark amongst the cruise review and information publications.”

Two new ships to launch in 2015

The two award-winning ships will now be joined next year by the Emerald Dawn and Emerald Sun, which will be launched for European river cruises in 2015. Glen Moroney also added, “We put a lot of thought into designing and building innovative, deluxe river ships that create an unparalleled experience for our guests.”

Those travelling this year will have experienced the prized ‘Star-Ships’, which boast deluxe features such as an outdoor swimming pool which transforms into a cinema, and indoor balconies with an open-air system. Both can carry up to 182 guests in 72 suites and 20 staterooms, and covered a number of itineraries this year including the 11-day Classic Prague and Danube Delights river cruise.

As the first new river cruise line in six years, it would appear that Emerald Waterways has managed to provide a breath of fresh air to the industry, receiving numerous awards and impressive reviews in recent months.
