The Telegraph teams up with Emerald Waterways

The 10-day Telegraph Correspondents' Enchantment of Eastern Europe River Cruise will not only offer the great Emerald Waterways experience from Budapest to Bucharest, but will involve special insights from three BBC correspondents, offering something wholly different from other escorted river cruises in Europe. Martin Bell, John Simpson and Nick Thorpe will each offer a unique addition to the cruise, where guests can learn more about their surroundings from three of the best known names in European journalism.

‘A unique opportunity’

The cruise, which costs just £1,745 per person and includes flights, all meals, excursions and more, has been described by the Telegraph in this article as ‘a unique opportunity’. Including a talk and Q&A session with Nick Thorpe in Budapest, a guided tour of Vukovar with Martin Bell and a discussion with John Simpson in Bucharest, on top of the already enviable Emerald Waterways itinerary, this is a certain to be a cruise to remember.

With other highlights including a cruise down the Iron Gate between the European Alps and the Carpathian Mountains, explorations of Roman relics in Bulgaria and a visit to the supposed burial site of Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, this experience goes above and beyond what is expected of the best river cruising holidays.

These three correspondents will share their experience and irrefutable knowledge of these areas exclusively with Emerald Waterways’ guests, with John Simpson imparting his knowledge of being the BBC’s world affairs editor, Martin Bell sharing his experiences as a former BBC foreign correspondent and Nick Thorpe speaking of his 18-year career as the BBC central Europe correspondent.

With such a wide knowledge base spanning several careers, these individuals will certainly add something special to this river cruise, which departs in April of next year. Click here to reserve your place on this once in a lifetime opportunity.
