Exotic butterflies flutter through Bucharest

The famed Dimitrie Brandza Botanical Garden of the University of Bucharest is now playing host to a number of new visitors as it opens its doors to a collection of exotic butterflies that originate from South America and Asia.

The tropical greenhouse at the Botanical Garden will be the new home of these fascinating creatures, which visitors to the exhibition can explore and enjoy.

The Dimitrie Brandza Botanical Garden has been an incredibly popular attraction with those visiting Bucharest during river cruise holidays for couples for some time. Having been established 150 years ago, the Garden has come a long way in this time and is increasingly looking for new and exciting projects to involve their guests in.

Second Edition

Entering into its second edition, the butterfly exhibition is to run until the 18th May this year for visitors to view the wide range of butterfly species flying free in the greenhouse. The exhibition is to be open to visitors between Tuesday and Sunday every week between the hours of 10am and 5pm, being closed to the public on Mondays.

Organised by Romania–based Butterfly Trading, tickets for the exhibition are available for purchase at the entrance from RON 3. Alongside the exhibition there is plenty to see at the Garden, with its reputation as an institution of culture, education and research meaning that there is plenty to see and learn about during a visit.

While guests of Emerald Waterways’ European river cruises may not be able to catch the butterfly exhibition at the Dimitrie Brandza Botanical Garden this year, there are still spaces on the all-new 2015 Treasures of the Danube cruise for guests to visit the garden and see the new exhibitions they have in store for next year. Give Emerald Waterways a call today to reserve a place on their spectacular 2015 river cruises.
