More music after the Prague Spring

While the festival ended last week on the 2nd June, having run from the 12th May, there is still plenty of opportunity to enjoy some of the best classical talent as the Cesta domu concert benefit will be taking place on the 16th June.

Also taking place at the Rudolfinum concert hall, visitors stopping off in Prague on 2015 couples' river cruise holidays can relive the magic that was the Prague Spring international music festival, which is to go into its 70th year next year.

A worthy cause

The Cesta domu concert benefit is for a most worthy cause as the Cesta domu provide exceptional expert care to the terminally ill, as well as working alongside social and legislative changes made that impact terminally ill people in the Czech Republic. It is hoped that the concert will raise a great deal of money and awareness for the organisation that does so much for the people of Prague and the Czech Republic as a whole.

The concert will feature Ah, Perfido, Op.65 and Egmont, Op. 84 (Overture) by Ludwig van Beethoven and Biblical songs, op.99 (B.185) and Te Deum, Op.103 by Antonín Dvorák as well as soloist performances by soprano Lívia Obrucník Vénosová and baritone Roman Janál. The Smichov philharmonia will also be in attendance and accompanied by the Czech Technical University choir.

Tickets are still on sale for the concert that begins at 7.30pm in the prestigious music auditorium and can be purchased ahead of European river cruise departures via the Smikof website. To find out more about the Cesta domu charity visit their website at cestadomu.cz or their shop in Bubenská 3, Prague 7 can be visited in the city.
